Community guidelines

A few simple rules to keep the exchange warm, safe, and running smoothly for everyone taking part.

  • Be kind. Write your note the way you'd want to receive one — warm and welcoming to someone you've never met.

  • Keep it family-friendly. Yesterjoys is for all ages, so keep your photo and note appropriate for anyone to open.

  • Share something real. Upload an actual photo of a moment from your own life — not a stock image or someone else's photo.

  • Register every postcard you receive. As soon as one arrives, enter its tracking number so the sender knows it made it — that's the only way they'll find out.

  • Never register a postcard before it arrives. Wait until it's actually in your hands.

  • Keep addresses private. Yours is only ever used by Yesterjoys to print and mail your postcard — we never share it with the person you're matched with, and you shouldn't ask another participant for theirs either.

  • Give it time. Postcards travel internationally and can take several weeks to arrive, so please be patient before checking in.

  • Under 18? Join with a parent or guardian's permission, and have an adult look over your photo and note before you send them.
